Post COVID-19: NEC Lists 15 states to Benefit from Global Funding for Education

The National Economic Council (NEC) has listed 15 states qualified to benefit from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) funding for education. This is coming as a means to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education.

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai made this announcement after a virtual NEC meeting presided by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and anchored from the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.

Mallam Nasir said that the qualification for the GPE funding was based on three GPE funding criteria which states had to meet at least two of the three requirements. He added that the grant is from the World Bank and other donors.

The states qualified to benefit from the financial incentives are Abia, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Nassarawa, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
