James Milner reacts to Liverpool FC’s 2-1 win over Leicester

James Milner admitted Liverpool FC struggled with fatigue after the Premier League leaders left it late to beat Leicester City on Saturday evening.

The Reds were looking to continue their perfect start to the Premier League season following seven successive victories.

Liverpool FC made the breakthrough in the 40th minute when Sadio Mane netted his fifth Premier League goal of the season.

Milner provided the assist for Mane as Liverpool FC looked to move eight points clear of Manchester City.

However, England international James Maddison scored an equaliser in the 80th minute to leave Liverpool FC on the brink of dropping points for the first time this term.

But Liverpool FC rescued three points in the fifth minute of added time when Milner scored from the penalty spot after Marc Albrighton brought down Mane.

Milner felt that Liverpool FC did struggle with tiredness as the Premier League leaders were forced to dig deep.

“We had to dig deep and find the points,” Milner said. “The boys have done it time and time again.

“There was a few tired legs and it was about getting the result. Leicester are a very good side.

We knew it was going to be tough. Now we have a break and have to hope people come back from the international break fully fit.”

Milner continued his fine record from the penalty spot with his first Premier League goal of the current campaign.

Quizzed about his spot-kick, Milner added: “Practice is what you need in those moments. You have to just concentrate and stay calm. I was just trying to concentrate. As long as you stay in the moment then you will be fine. Anytime it’s in the last minutes, it is important.”

Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when the Reds take on bitter rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Reds are eight points clear of Manchester City ahead of the Citizens’ clash against Wolves on Sunday.
