The Toffees man saw red in a tricky game for Marco Silva and the Goodison Park side
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the Toffees' 1-0 defeat to Burnley in the Premier League and Blues captain Seamus Coleman has been receiving a fair bit of criticism for his red card during the game.
The 30-year-old, already on a yellow card for a bad tackle on
Erik Pieters, was sent off shortly before the hour after jumping in late
for a challenge on Dwight McNeil and clattering into the winger after
the ball had gone, cue the referee getting out the second yellow.
Following Coleman's departure, Burnley went on to take the lead
through Jeff Hendrick, making the post of poor Everton defending for a
corner to drift to the back post and volley beyond Toffees goalkeeper
Jordan Pickford.
Already the Republic of Ireland international has had some
doubters this season but, following his latest lacklustre performance
and early bath, some Everton fans made their feelings known on social
media:
Good he won’t start the next game— Danny Smith (@Dannysmith1878) October 5, 2019
Daft from Seamus Coleman that.— Tony Scott (@Tony_Scott11) October 5, 2019
Everton now reduced to 10 men.
He was arguing with Yerry Mina minutes before the second yellow.
EFC now up against it.
Get Sidibe in from now on or get Kenny back hes past it now FFS— Jac Edwards (@18_jpe) October 5, 2019
Seamus Coleman. Don’t come back.— ste (@sterushton) October 5, 2019
That was utter garbage and so easy to defend against but Seamus Coleman getting sent off was the nail in the coffin— Owen (@owenparkes123) October 5, 2019
Ffs Coleman you absolute idiot. #efc— Simon Currie (@sicurrie) October 5, 2019
Keep playing Gylfi and Coleman till the championship— RyanEFC (@RyanEFC3) October 5, 2019
Hard to say new things when it’s the same old problems, but I pleaded for a new right back all summer and got told over and over we would be fine with another season of the status quo. That Coleman is our right back in 2019 is a JOKE. Insightful enough? #EFC https://t.co/pHr3XuJ4KT— Rob Vera (@TheRobVera) October 5, 2019

Front 4-
Seamus Coleman is pathetic.
This is very very very bad.
Coleman has been on the books at Everton since 2009, is contracted to the Toffees until the summer of 2022 (Transfermarkt) on a reported £70,000-per-week deal (Spotrac), with close to 300 senior appearances under his belt, and currently valued at £13.5million (Transfermarkt).
